to commute between the Airport Terminals. the CanAm Crew Resort and the CanAm Airport Hotel
As we anticipate to have more than 1200 CanAm crew members plus 400 employees in future constantly commuting to the airport, an automated tram was included within the planning scope of the CanAm crew quarters and the CanAm airport hotel right from the start.
We believe this SkyTram is not a luxury, but a necessity to ensure timely arrival of crew and passengers from the airport hotel to the airport.
Skytram at Düsseldorf Airport in Germany
The length of the tram to the CanAm crew resort (CR) is only approx.. 3.5km which is less than 6 minutes ride. The distance to the planned CanAm airport hotel (H) is approx.1.2km, which would only be 2 minutes per SkyTram.
The electrically powered airtram travels suspended at a maximum speed of 50 km/h along an elevated track. It initially connects the airport terminal with the CanAm CrewQuarters and the Airport Hotel, thus creating a quick connection to the airport terminal.
The SkyTram will move fully autonomous along a box-shaped track at a height of around 10 m on a 5 km long track with five trains, each with two cabins. All cabins have large panoramic windows and sufficient storage space for luggage.
The capacity of the transport system should initially be around 2000 people per hour and direction. This capacity should be expandable for the planned extension of the system to connect to the next cities and towns.
Situation around LPA Airport, Gran Canaria
Each SkyTram commutes in a back-and-forth manner, so there is always a tram ready or arriving with 5 minutes. At night-time, the tram switches to an on-demand mode, activated by the CanAm crew card. CanAm employees may also use the tram for example to reach the diverse CanAm restaurants for lunch breaks.
If the investment volume of the sky tram as local infrastructure -estimated at >100million- will be carried by local the local government, the AirTram could be extended in travel volume to serve as a general people mover to and from the Airport and Las Palmas, and serve to bring general airport employees from the nearby towns of Rosario to use the CanAm SkyTram, (as long as CanAm crew have priority at all times). This would help to develop the residential and industrial areas around Rosario.
