The CanAm Project was born from a visionary idea — to create a unique travel niche that reflects both the evolving demands of the modern traveler and the founder’s own global experience.
Klaus J. Lauth, the mind behind CanAm, is an accomplished engineer, seasoned world traveler, and long-time resident of the Canary Islands. With a career spanning multiple continents and cultures, Klaus has spent decades navigating the intricacies of international air travel — not as a tourist, but as a true cosmopolitan. His professional and personal life has taken him to residences in Kuwait, Iran, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, France, Germany, and Spain — each experience adding depth to his understanding of global connectivity and travel inefficiencies.
His passion for flight was ignited early: Born in Indonesia, Klaus crossed the equator for the first time at the age of just four — during an era when air travel still held a sense of wonder and prestige. That first magical experience set the tone for a lifelong fascination with aviation.
CanAm reflects this blend of technical expertise, global perspective, and personal passion — reimagining air travel not just as a means of transport, but as an elegant, time-efficient, and enriching experience. It’s not just about reaching a destination — it’s about redefining how we journey.
Many memories, such as the perfumed scent of the aircraft and the stewardesses when boarding by the rear central stairs on a Boeing 727 in Beirut 1974, the magnificent window views, watching clouds for hours and more. Then the wide and comfortable seats on a Pan Am Round the World Flight, playful meals, free airplane postcards, airline toys and many other treats remained engraved in his memory as a child. Unfortunately, over the decades, this sense of wonderment gradually waned as airlines shifted their focus to profit-driven corporate models. Then, finally, in the mid 2010s, increasingly dismayed by the poor experience encountered, -he was highly motivated to change things and…… to basically revive the “good old days” of airtravel. | ![]() |
